PT 425
Hi All,
Working the PT425 today and noticed a clicking noise I have not heard before. Sounds like it was coming from the front Hydraulic pump.
Noise occurs predominantly when driving forward and is random in nature. Appears to get worse when turning while moving.
I do not hear noise when sitting still, whether engine is low idle or high RPM.
Pic attached points (red arrow) to the pump I THINK is creating the noise.
PT425 is 2002 model with original engine and all pumps. Engine running fine. Only changes have been to replace 3 wheel motors, with last one
about 3 years ago. Do not see any hydraulic leaks. Hydraulic oil level is good. Any suggestions appreciated.

The typical reason for hearing clicking while moving, is the break pin hitting the side of the cog holes as they move by. In my case, the break not being completely disengaged. I'd imagine if the cable stretches a bit, that could be a problem too.

Always push the pin in after taking a break.

The next time you hear that clicking noise, keep rolling and move the parking brake lever towards the OFF position as hard as you can and see if the noise goes away.

99 times out of 100 that's the problem.

Then you can get some wrenches and tighten the nut that puts tension on that lever. Then you'll find you put too much tension and can't engage the brake. Then you'll put too little and the brake will engage too easy. Then too much. Then too little. Too much. Too little....... gotta hunt for that Goldilocks setting.

I've noticed the same thing with mine it's hydraulic in nature ... Also changed three wheel motors. It almost sounds like it comes from above the treadle pedal and it's not the brake pins clicking. And mine also runs fine. Go figure ..
