I looked at my Woods SB 74 manual and contacted Woods. They have a kit to add a hydraulic motor for chute rotation...pretty simple kit, actually.
But Woods charges $675.00 for it. Pretty salty, eh?
Any of you folks convert a manual chute to hydraulic using a hydraulic motor? If so, where did you get the motor?

I got a motor off an old salt spreader and stuck it inplace of the crank handle. Said crank handle pulls on a spring loaded steel cable that spins the shute.

I just did it to my Kubota blower. Used a ProPoint motor from Princess Auto. 5.0 cu. in. 2-Bolt Hydraulic Spool Valve Geroler Motor | Princess Auto

I've seen several threads of people adding hydraulic rotation. I'm in the process on my Kubota, but doing it entirely differently than most have. It's more like Kubota's option, which by the way goes for over $800. Almost makes the Woods sound cheap.

roy, on my old farmking i just added a regular hyd ram and a simple pulley system. it worked slick. im not sure what the basic Woods SB 74 system looks like. heres some pick of mine. it didnt cost much all said and done. it plugged into my power beyond port and i controlled it with standard hanb lever from the seat.your creative....improvise haha. rotator 1.jpg rotator 2.jpg rotator 3.jpg

I priced out the parts (in Canada) and found that it would cost me around $350 - maybe less, to convert from the manual rotation using Princess Auto in Canada. I have two rear remotes by the seat already on the tractor, so it really is a no brainer. I initially thought to go electric winch conversion but decided against it due to freezing and wet wiring etc. Hydraulics is the way to go for sure. My set up would be very similar to Scooby074 set up.

I found this info on another site. Hopefully it will help.

I did more research and found that kubota uses a hydraulic motor made by Eagle in Canada on the bx2754a. The motor has a double crossover relief valve directly on the motor which works to limit the maximum torque. It is adjustable and is ideal for this application. This is the secret to avoiding all the broken parts. I ordered one from a local shop at a cost of $196.01 cdn.

I just proceeded to strip the worm that rotates my chute in the heavy wet snow today. Im not happy. If you go with a design like mine, make sure the worm that engauges the chute can take it. The worm for my blower is over $60. Im going to have to rework my design .

Torque is what is needed, not speed (rpm).
I have tried different electric methods they being cheapest and easiest to install.
ATV winch motors offer torque and low speed as do surplus wheelchair drives.
I currently use a wheelchair drive turning a cable wrapped around the chute much like the hand cranks do.
Other than the brushes occasionally freezing up* it works extremely well with plenty of torque.

I did try chain and sprocket but ice would clog the chain gaps. The cable wrap works best.
I have nothing against hydraulic rotation other than cost (motor, valve, hose & fittings)

*started this year, may possibly be grease frozen as minor heat gets it freed up.
