Hello,

I feel kind of dumb . . . maybe I'm getting too old and just don't remember.

I need to install the hydraulic lift cylinder AM124024 for my 59" JD snow blower . . . on the front of my JD 4310. I can't remember which end goes to the 4310 side, and which end attached to the 59" snow blower. Could someone PLEASE post a photo of this set up? Would really like to see the snow blower end and how the hydraulic lift is attached.

Thanks,

FredSG

The stationary end mounts to your tractor. The end where the rod extends goes forward to the blower. Because the rod area diminishes the area available for the hydraulic pressure to push against, the end where the full piston area is available for lifting the blower is utilized to raise it. Gravity causes it to lower.

The John Deere online parts reference clearly shows your snow blowers arrangements.

Hi ZZVYB6,

Thanks for your reply. But, both end seem to be stationary so I'm still not sure which end goes where. This is my hydraulic lift . . . can you tell which end goes onto the tractor side? I'm thinking the long end attached to the bracket on the tractor frame, but not sure. Can you be more specific after looking at my photo?

Left side in photo is tractor attachment. Right side goes on the blower. Note that the rod [ shown fully contracted ] extends to the right. BTW: you might have to attach the tractor end AND the hydraulics in order for the rod pin to be fitted, assuming you don't want to try to lift up the blower to insert it. This is a trying task because the EXACT rod position has to be obtained by quickly blipping the control lever. Best to use 2 people to get it done, but watch your arms and fingers in the process. Don't take a shortcut by having your hand on the rod when it gets tweaked/moved.

Post a photo of the attaching mechanism that you need to fit that cyl. onto, and more specific guidance can be offered.

Here is a link to the manual.

Beenthere,

As you suggested two photos -

This is the 4310 frame side coupling that the cylinder attached to

And this is the snow blower side coupling that accepts the other(??) end of the cylinder lift

Do they help figure out which end goes where?

Yes, just as shown in the manual.. the large end (fixed, stationary, with hose connections) to the tractor, and the small end (push/pull rod) to the snowblower (your 2nd pic). Don't think you can hook them up wrong.
You don't want the hoses moving back and forth with the action of the cylinder, so that end with the hose connections is stationary on the tractor end.

FredSG - That picture you posted is just what I needed. I replaced the two elbows on my lift cylinder and I’m having trouble with their alignment. Your picture shows me how they should be aligned, so thanks. I’m glad you got yours all hooked up. Maybe I can now do the same.
