Hi,

I keep getting large amounts of transmission/hydraulic oil in the engine oil, the only place it can enter the sump is through the connection between the engine and hydraulic pump.

I have replaced the shaft seal on the hydraulic pump twice with a non genuine seal that was matched up at a local seal specialist.

The question I have is: is it possible for the gear pump to wear internally enough that it over pressurizes the shaft seal?

NB: I have replaced the pumps 'E' seals as well, I'm wondering if the high pressure oil can pass through the gears.

Yes they can force oil out of the seal and even dislodge the seal if there is enough internal leakage . Is there ANY wear in the housing or end plates where the gear have been touching them ? New Italian group 1 and 2 pumps are around $150 on ebay . Group 3 are around $400-$500 .
