Is there a way to run chemical diagnostics on hydraulic fluid similar to what is done for engine oil? Or actually the automatic transmission fluid in the truck. If so, who does it?

Just wondering if I can pull samples and have them analyzed to check for wear of components, and remaining life of the fluid instead of just replacing it on a hours of service or time basis.

Getting ready to send of samples from my truck, and the tractor engines. And it got me to wondering if I can do the same for the hydraulic fluids.

Thanks, Jigs

I just sent a sample of hydraulic oil for testing. It looks milky in the sight glass, and I think there might be water in it from the previous owner's use. I have always used Blackstone labs in Indiana, and just noted that it's hydraulic oil. I don't have the report back yet, but will let you know when I do.

FWIW & FYI here is a copy of Blackstone Lab's report on the UDT2 in my Kubota. The 410 hour results correlate to my post https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/kubota-l45-hydraulic-fluid-maintenance.419912/; the 604 hour was when the next filter change was due.
