hydraulic filter

Does anybody have any idea where the hydraulic filter and screen is on a Satoh Bull? I have just bought this tractor and the 3 point didn't work. I took it apart and cleaned it out. The 3 point now will go up and down but not with any wieght on it. I have been told to replace the hydraulic filter and clean the screen, the problem is, I don't know where it is.

if it is like the d 1850. the screen will b if u r sitting on the tractor. the right side front of the rear axle.has a plate held down with bolts.behind that plate is the screen.poppet valve is under the seat there is a cover held down with about 13 bolts.go to Valley Power click on parts then hydralic system on that page you will see diagrams of the hydralic system and control.

OK. I found the filter and cleaned it out and filled it out with new fluid. The 3 point works now but does not lift much wieght. I hooked the mower to it and started mowing a little bit. I found something very strange though. While I was mowing, as I moved the loader up and down, the 3 point would move also. As I would move the loader down, the 3 point would move up. Also when the 3 point is all the way up, the loader does not work very well, but if the 3 point was locked in place, it would work fine. It would be really slow or not work at all like it didn't have any pressure to it. Any ideas of what the problem might be???????

ahha.the way some of these tractors hook up their hydralic lines could be an issue.some tractors use a power beyond port from the control valve and that line goes to the rear lift.then the return from the valve goes to the tank.with this hook up you should not have that problem.your lift cylinder seal could be leaking causing weak lift.the hydralic pump could be worn causing weak lift.you should not use both hydralics together your hook up may not have a return line.

Thanks. I will probably keep using it the way it is for a while. It seems like the loader works fine with the 3 point locked in place with the lock under the seat. If I had to guess, it is probably the seal you were talking about. I don't really know how the lines are hooked up, but the guy I bought it from said when he had the original problem of the 3 point not working at all, he took it to someone and they cleaned everything out and it worked just fine. Probably a piece of dirt in the valve.
