Hydraulic Filter

Anyone used NAPA brand hydraulic filter. Good / bad results. Anyone know the NAPA part # for 3110 hydrauilc filter. I had the # at one time ,but must have lost it.

I put a NAPA hydraulic filter on my 2020 and it made the pump squeal, starving the pump. I had already cleaned screen and was installing new fluid. I got a filter from Fredricks and it immediately started working right. I don't know the problem but I will use the OEM filters from now on. About the same price.

Eddie, they're not true OEM, but they are a proper replacement as opposed to something that just fits. We carry the same filters.

Probably the worst "almost fits" case is the donut type air filters used in 1500-1700-2000 and others. The NAPA almost fits is something like 1/64" or 1/32" off the OEM, but it is enough to allow dust to be pulled in, and in the wrong environment, can lead to premature wear. We, and many other dealers, carry an exact replacement for that OEM for literally a few $$ more than NAPA, maybe $8 more than a generic version of the NAPA. We rebuilt an engine for an individual using the "almost fits" a few years ago (maybe 3, maybe 5.....working on memory here)---he was tilling 35 acres of truck garden seasonally, kicking up lots of dust, and literally ate up his rings. He bought a case of the aftermarket replacement air filter when he picked up his tractor.

Are you talking about the screen in the transmission?

Isn't the original oem yanmar filter washable??? While it costs more, it works in the long run!!!

I realize they're not true OEM but I think they are made more to the specifications for the tractors.

Yes I know the deal with the donut air filter. When I bought the 1700 it had a Wix donut filter in it. I run it for about a year, then it started smoking and using oil, the rings were worn out. So I learned the hard way. I buy all my filters from Fredrick's now since they are only about 30 miles from me. I still have that Wix hanging on a nail in my garage to remind me of the problems and money it caused me.

I assume Kenmac is talking about a screw on hydraulic filter. That's what my 2020 has.

I'm talking about the 1 that is in the bottom in the rearend area of the tractor.I believe the plate hats 3 screws that has to be removed. loose all hydraulic fluid in the process. The screen maybe washable . I haven't had it out to see. I was thinking of changing the fluid & wanted a new filter on hand to put back

That screen is washable. My 2020 has a screw on hydraulic filter that is made like an oil filter but a lot bigger.

Just drain the fluid before you take the 3 screws out. The screen has a rubber 'O' ring so you don't have to worry about a gasket.

Good time to change fluid since you have to drain it.
