Hydraulic fill plug popping off

The fill plug for the hydro oil on my B2910 popped off and got caught up in the lift arm or the PTO and split in two. It fit on tightly. Why would this happen? Has it happened to anyone else? I don't know how long the plug was off and hope no dirt got into the system.

David, Under the seat is a small hooked shape rubber breather tube. Make sure its not plugged up. Once had a mud wasp build a nest in mine on my B8200 and fluid came out of the fill hole and force the cap out.

I had my fill plug pop off when my 2910 was brand new - it had about 5 hours on it. I checked the vent tube and it was clear. It hasn't happened since, and I attributed the plug coming off to it not being properly seated from the dealer. ??? - one of those mysterious occurences, I guess.

The plug on my 2910 did exactly the same thing yours did except it was only deformed after dropping into the slot between one of the 3 point arms. Made a mess too. This happened after I took it off to top it off at 150 hours. I imagine I did not seat it properly.

I was able to carve the plastic- shaving off plastic- and was able to force it back into the hole. Don't even want to think about taking it off the next time. Plane to buy another before taking is off cause I bet I will have to drill it to get it off.

My breather tube was clear.

Mine was split in two. I cleaned it with some degreaser then hot-glued it together and trimed the rough spots with an exacto knife. Meanwhile, I ordered a new one from Carver. With the O-ring it was about $5 shipped.
