Hydraulic fill JD 3320?? HELP :)

Hello,
I have a JD 3320 with the back hoe attachment. I blew a hose yesterday, I am going to get the new hose made now. Not sure where to check and or fill hydraulic fluid.
Need to know:
WHere to check
Is there a stick or is it fill to spill like oil in a generator
Can I use any hydraulic fluid or do I need something special??

Standing facing the back of the tractor there is a dip stick above the left axle. It's hard to read the clear oil. The fill is located above where the top link attaches to the tractor kind of behind and under the seat. The yellow cap. I use a gear oil pump with a hose because it is tough to get to. As far as the fluid I use the low viscosity John Deere hydraulic oil. All of this is in the owners manual.
