Ugh, these tractors can be such pains in the A$$ sometimes!!!

So, today I went out to spread some stone with my BX2200 and was using the FEL for about 2 hours. All of a sudden the Lever was sloppy and the black hydraulic control box was sliding up and down in the steel enclosure. I quickly took her in the garage to examine the situation and too my surprise both the bolts that anchor the control box to the enclosure were missing! Apparently the bolts were loose when I got it. I haven't had the tractor but 2 months. The story doesn't end there. I found one of the bolts laying on the floorboard and put it back in. After some searching I luckily found the other bolt without the lock washer however, no big deal as they are something everyone has laying around their garage. I put the bolt back in and began to tighten it and the friggin thing snapped off on me!!! I wasn't even torquing on it hard. Lesson I learned was...Even though it is new, check every nut and bolt before you use it. Naturally I don't have a tap and die set, and the wife layed down the law when I wanted to get one, so now the dealership is sending someone out to fix it for me. The FEL control works fine but I have to be careful with it as there is only one bolt holding it together!

Thanks for the heads up! Since my 'bota is only a month old, you can bet I'll be checking some bolts /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

If I'm not mistaken, this is something the dealer assembles, I've seen mine putting them together, so I expect that the dealer is at fault here. It also sounds as if your dealer is going to take care of it, as I expect he would. Let us know if he charges you...I don't think he should.

Minor issue I have had with my LA211. at the bottom of the control shaft, is a snap ring which limits the shaft's rise (when the joystick is totally up, in float). Realized one day it was gone. Bought one from Kubota dealer for $0.35. First time I used it, noticed it was gone again. Since it doesn't affect the joystick behavior, I just gave up. Anyone else loosing their snap rings?

Snap Rings

Roy
what type of value do you have?
I have the BX2014 value and there are no snap rings
on any part of the linkage. All have pins --- washer/cotter pin.
Lock to float feels as if it is controlled by the value itself and
not by some external device.

Or am I looking in the wrong place.

Roy, got my BX in Jan, and I didn't find any snap rings on the shaft you mention. No place to put one, either. Maybe they did away with it???

Checked all the bolts on the dealer add-ons last night (FEL joystick, T&T, etc.), and everything is tight and sound.

I have noticed lately that the FEL joystick rattles around a lot. Anybody else have this issue? The whole mechanism is kinda loosy-goosey, but the pins/washers are all in place. Is this normal?

hey GlueGuy,
when i rode the b7500 a few times the loader control was the same as you say. sloppey and noisey and it rattled. seems like they need some aftermarket homw mods. like many other new things these days.

the joystick on my 2410 rattles like crazy at idle. i don't think this is normal becuase the 7300 i had for a trial did not have this issue. there seems to be a loose washer under the joystick assembley.

Hydraulic Control Lever Rattle at RPM

Hello. My 2710 has a loud rattle from the control lever at higher RPMS. I just wrapped a bungee cord around it to stop the resonance. I imagine a rubber washer or something would fix it. I love my tractor. My family is ok too. But my tractor....

Dave; Congratulations on your promotion to Executive /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif (and any missed, herby implied).

Charliebrn and Dave; It may be a design change (especially since believe the snap ring has no practical use). I will try to diagram the location this weekend. It will be easier than a textual description. (Tonight is reserved for far more important tasks… University of MD verse Georgetown Hoyas in the NCAA madness… local bragging rights on the line. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

Rich,

To some extent , I know it has to be free to be pushed in all 8 (er, 9 with float) positions. I have to admit that I've not really identified why it rattles. I know the cotter pin is in there, and there's just one washer. Maybe if I add a couple more washers to take up the slack. Or, maybe if I just make up a couple of "washers" from old inner tube or something....

Re: Hydraulic Control Lever Rattle at RPM

Mine came with a spring hinged plate that was notched to the size of the control rod. Simply flip it down and it holds the rod in place, eliminating 90%+ of the virbration. Might go to a dealer and look--yours might be missing??

Re: Hydraulic Control Lever Rattle at RPM

Mine has that too. However, I only use that when I'm not planning on moving the FEL. When the notched plate is down, mine stops rattling altogether. The issue is when the plate is up. I wouldn't expect the joystick to rattle as much as it does.

Re: Hydraulic Control Lever Rattle at RPM

Ya'll do make me wonder. My B2710 has that little spring hinged plate, too, and the only time I flip it down is when I have the loader off. I can see some vibration in the lever by looking at it, but I've never noticed any rattle whether the plate is up or down. Maybe being an old man who wears hearing aids has something to do with it./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
