Ok. I have an old Shaver mounted post pounder and i finally have hooked it up and have found the valves are leaking. I tried tightening them up but have found their stripped out and I'm not positive where all the leaks are coming from. I'm attaching pics for you guys to see what i have. I'm curious if you think its worth it to try and repair these valves or to replace them. Their from gresen hydraulics and i hope the photos show everything well enough.

Time to throw it the whole thing out and get a new one... I can stop by on Sat to pick up that old piece of junk and save you a trip the the scrapyard :D

On a more serious note, being as you have stripped holes, if you are busy, I would probbaly get a 2 section valve such as Surplus Center - 2 SPOOL 7 GPM CROSS SS OC W/ PBYD VALVE and replace that one. If you have time to spare (or need a winter project), I might re-tap the holes for a larger fastener

I have one more day of use and I will be taking it off for a year. If it wasn't such a huge deal I wouldn't mind lending it out but unless you have a Farmall 45A it won't fit on any other tractor without custom mounts. I had the mount changed so that it would bolt up to this tractor since that was the main reason I bought it for.

I have thought about tapping the holes to a slightly larger size but then I was trying to decide if when I am done with that how many more problems will I find. My brand new tractor has a nice layer of oil on the right floor board as a result of these leaks so I am leaning towards replacing it and if I do I may still fix these old ones just for spares.

No, we have Kubotas, an L3830, a B and a BX. Even if we had a Farmall, by the time I made it out your way (twice at 4:40 round trip) I would probbaly be time and money ahead to rent one (mounted to a skidsteer) for the weekend (or get someone in to do it).

Yep, drop a new valve on it, throw the old one on the shelf and when things are slow, fix it to use as a spare.

I agree with Aczlan, time to move on with a new 2-spool control valve

those old gresen valves have no relief valve and are not designed to be piggybacked in series....having two linked up like this puts too much pressure on the upstream valve orings on the spool.....resulting in premature seal failure
