i am goinng under the knike next week for a hydracele operation. R & R the right ********. Any imformation on how many weeks i can not work? doc sez two weeks to two months. I know this is sort of personal. Any ideas on the cost? Tractor driving and snow removal is out of the question now. Saving family jewels is most important now.

Not an operation to be feared. If I remember right the Air Force only kept me out a short time. Two weeks or less and I was a mechanic on the flight line. They aren't cutting though any muscles so the soreness was minimized. Worst part was the shave! Being military the cost was zip. The only problem I had was the swelling returned. I suggested the Doc use a needle and syringe to drain off the fluid and it worked. That was 28 years ago. The Doc was just about finished with his tour so he was a young guy at the top of his game. You are right about the personal part. I have never heard anyone mention having a Hydracele before or since.

Thank you for the reply... Monday morning at 0630 It happens... I have been drained with a needle once already with no success on the issue returning. Doc sez about 15% chance of a return after surgey. My doc is a ex-navy trained doc... putting a lot of faith in him... Thanks again for the info and thanks for serving our country during a time of need

Hope all is well and we'll pray that you get well soon.

Thank you for the kind words. I retired from the Air Force 10 years ago. My son is now carring the torch. He is a navigator and has spent his time over there and will be going back next summer which keeps momma and I on pins and needles. He and his buddies are the guys that deserve the thanks and respect. He and several of his high school football team mates are serving now. For my son, he wanted to fly since he was knee high to a grasshopper so the Air Force was the way to go. The other guys enlisted in the Army. Two are Rangers and one is a Warrant Officer flying Cobra's. One young lady from church spent a year training Iraqi border police and three months as a gunner on a Humvee. It sure has put a personnal face on this war. As you probably have guessed there's a whole lot of praying going on in this little town.

Hydrocele repair is usually a simple procedure and done as an out patient. A bit of discomfort for a few days, some bruising and swelling, but I would be surprised if you were out of action for anything like the 2 month upper limit your doc mentioned. A couple of weeks at most before you are back to normal. You won't want to sit on a tractor for a few days however. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Good luck.
