HVAC 24v transformer electrical issues.

The higher voltage should not be a problem. When it is not working, does the contactor pull in ?

Could be poor contacts on the contactor. Also if there is a float switch on the water tray, could be going bad. They are often wired to the compressor circuit to kill it if there is a condensate drain issue. Last is thermostst/wiring. The Y (yellow) wire should have voltage on it when running. If not, the stat or wire to it could be the problem.

Shut off power to system and check primary voltage connection to control transformer. Most likley this is a multi-tap transformer. you may have a 208 volt and a 240 volt leads. If the 208 volt lead is used, wire it the 240 volt lead. This will bring you secondary voltage down to the proper operating parameters.

Ditto on what's been said on the unloaded 24vax xformer secondary.

It could have been preloaded, but not common.

I'd look at that contact or. Mine was making me blow a fuse on a LV side.

Tech guy seems to think it's the xfmr. Said no way in any state should it ever have 32 on secondary.

So, since under warranty, they are sending one.

And yea, it's on the 240 tap, not the 208
