Hustler Raptor
Hi everyone,

New ZTR owner here. After significant research I made the decision to purchase the Hustler Raptor 42' ZTR. The dealer delivered to my house, we put gas in it, drove it for a few moments, and he left. I read the manual, page by page, and felt pretty comfortable with how to operate. I get on it, fire it up and start mowing my yard. After a few S-turns and looking like a drunk sailor I got the hang of it and proceeded to cut straight and even runs through the yard. Then, about a half hour into it, the drive belt fell off and boom, no more movement. I called the dealer, he said "hey that never happens" and came to get the mower to "fix" it. They put a new belt on it, said the belt was faulty, and delivered it back to the house. They unloaded it, I drove it around for a few minutes and they left. The next day I got on it, started mowing where I left off, and half hour, boom the belt fell off. So I called him back up, and they said "hey that's unusual" and wanted to pick it up for repairs. I said "no send me a new mower" and he got all bent out of shape. So, the dealer is claiming that it is "operator error" that is causing the drive belt to pop off. Even though I asked him the first time it happened and he said "No there is nothing an operator can do to cause the drive belt to come off".

So, can operating the equipment on level ground, with the motor running at 100% per the manual, going straight ahead cutting 3 inch grass, no debris, not rocks, no sticks, no anything, cause a drive belt to come off? I am claiming bull crap on him and want a new mower or my money back. He is claiming it is operator error. Which is it?

Thanks. Any advice to determine the issue? Any comments on previous or current owners on issues they had?

I bought the 54" flip up deck model last year. I kept throwing blade drive belts. There was a fix by installing a new keeper bracket on the mower deck. No problems since. You might have a similar issue.
