I have a Husqvarna (2754GLS) with one of those wires in the back to engage/disengage the transmission.
I mistakenly disengaged my transmission thinking it would help with a rear tire repair I was recently doing. I shouldn't have done it, but I digress.
Now, I try to push the wire back in (to re-engage the transmission) but I can't make it happen.

Has anyone else fixed a problem like this? What should I try? What is likely causing it?

I seem to remember having this problem before, but I don't know how it was resolved because the guy who resolved it ended our friendship (because I lent him 2K and he doesn't want to pay it back).
So now I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

that wire connects to a short flat piece of metal that is connected to a rod that goes into the transmission. Most likely that rod is stuck and is not returning to the operate position.

Try rocking tractor back and forth.

See #2 ^^^^^^
That wire just attaches to a little level, see if you can move it.

How do you get to the rod? It seems to be deep inside the machine -- it doesn't appear to be very accessible.

A little level? How do I get to this piece and try to move it? What part(s) of the tractor do I have to remove to get at it?

On my Husq with k46 transmission, its on the front, right top.
Your transmission model is on a sticker on back right side case. Screenshot_2018-12-27-10-39-18.jpegScreenshot_2018-12-27-10-46-10.jpeg

Getting to the transaxle while it's still mounted on your Husky would be under the seat. I'd looked to see if you can remove the seat, it's mount and any horizontal sheet metal that both are mounted on.
Once wifie ran over a palm fronds and a piece lodged in the transaxle pulley (I think this was on the 46" CC that burnt up, 'nother story). To fix it I did all the above and was able to remove (gingerly(!)) the pulley with an electric impact wrench. Worked a treat tho a true PITA to get at!

You may try pulling the deck for access to the front of the transaxle. You didn't post the chassis model, but I think yours would have the body mounted underneath the steering tower- which is a pain then to remove. If not, than no big deal to remove the body. Next easiest way would be to drop the transaxle, at least enough for access.

My Craftsman has the same setup. At times it seems like it will not go back into position. I just push harder and the wire will bend up temporarily before it finally moves. I have found that the quicker you try to push it back the better it works on mine.
