Hi all, I have a Husky 150BT leaf blower, 2013 model that will not start (started fine couple of weeks ago). I have done the following:
- changed the fuel to new canned fuel (50:1)
- installed a new spark plug ... checked for spark (yes)
- replaced the carburetor
- cleaned the air filter

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

4labs, welcome to TBN

A couple of things to look at.You say you changed the carb to a new on. Is the new carb an OEM part or purchased a new carb from some place you never heard of before ?

Do you have a in-line fuel filter ? That could be plugged or perhaps the fuel line itself is plugged. If you remove the fuel line from the carb, does fuel flow out of it ?

Does the engine have good compression ?

Check the exhaust port and muffler. Could be jammed up with carbon.

Are you sure that you got the primer tubes correctly routed ?

Hi Richard001,

Thank you for responding.

It's a3rd party carb from a company a friend recommended. I've swapped out carburetors on other 2-cycle engines (e.g. older trimmer) with good successs. I checked the exhaust port and the screen was clean. I will dig a little deeper on the exhaust side.

I have not tested the compression...but do feel pressure when trying to start vs with the spark plug installed.

A common problem among two stroke engines is a clogged fuel filter. Many of them hide it within the fuel tank. Some are easier to access than others.

Put some mixed gas in a spray bottle and spritz the carb (with filter off) if it starts you have a fuel delivery issue as roadworthy pointed out above.

I bought a 125B hand-held Husky blower 11 years ago and when I got it out for the 3rd season it wouldn't start. Came to find the piston ring had gotten carboned-up and stuck the ring in the land. It had a little compression but not enough. I bought a new piston & jug assembly and installed and has since run like new every year.

At the end of every season I remove the spark plug and spray Thrust into the cylinder and loosely hand screw the spark plug back in. The high viscosity penetrating oil keeps the ring from sticking during the 3/4 year it's not used.

Since the old piston/ring/jug didn't have many hours I cleaned the piston land good with a piece of the old broken ring and bought a new ring for $3.45 and have a spare piston/ring/jug on the shelf when the current one wears out.
