Ahhhh, the Garden Club's annual Ice cream social is in a couple of weeks and I looking to replace my dilapidated Ice cream freezer.

I am having no luck so I have come to my good friends on TBN for help.

The specs I'm looking for are a stainless steel tub and 4-6 quart capacity, and electric motor.

I just bought a White Mountain (6 qt electric), and I know they USED to make a good ice cream freezer, but I was disappointed in this one. The White Mountain metal label is now a stick on which stuck to the box and came right off, the wood ends of the paddles were splintered, the 5 year warranty is actually only 1 year on the motor, the motor label says MADE IN CHINA, and the Dasher (paddle) end does not fit in the motor which renders the freezer useless.

HELP!!!

One of the best I've seen was at Lehman's Hardware. They sell online too. Here's a link to the hand crank model I saw, along with the details below. Sit down before you read the price.

A delight in any season, rich, velvety homemade ice cream is almost as much fun to make as it is to eat. Pour in your favorite recipe, let everyone take a turn cranking the handle, and you'll soon be relishing the treat that's been called the Great American Dessert.

■Rugged construction with top-of-the-line parts and careful attention to detail
■Superior performance for many years
■Heavy-duty stainless steel can and leak-proof white oak tub with stainless adjustable bands
■Zinc alloy gears
■Extra heavy seamless stainless steel can
■Rustproof manganese bronze housing (with grease fitting)
■Leak-proof white oak tub secured by stainless steel adjustable bands that can be tightened when they loosen
■Stainless steel mixer, shaft, handle and fittings
■Tall tub design ensures quick and efficient freezing
■5-year warranty on all stainless steel parts

If you're really serious, you should look at the hit-and-miss John Deere model.

If you find one that is PTO driven I would be interested too. Cold beer in the FEL and ice cream on back!

ford850, those Lehman's are so close, if only they made an electric one. (a spec I left out, bum shoulder). Those Ice cream trailers are a ... aaa...WOW, but I'm only making ice cream for the club not the County. :D
Thanks!

we picked this up a few years ago.

about 2 quarts at a time.

dump in your mix, and turn the timer and about 45 min later you get fresh ice cream.

We use ours about every other week.

Steve, I think Don needs about three times that capacity, but if he is willing to make multiple batches, that freezer is on sale at Amazon.com with free SuperSaver shipping right now.

Several years ago, I found an old White Mountain Ice cream maker at a thrift store and got it for $.88. I used it several times and stored it in the attic of a shed and flying squirrels got in there and ate the wood around the top of the tub, to get the salt I suppose. Wife bought me a new 6qt. WM and they are really cheap made compared to the old ones. The tub is out of a lot thinner wood and the wood blades on the dasher had to be tightened, sloppy workmanship. It makes good ice cream, but would like to have an older one just for the quality.

I saw one at a tractor drive a few years ago that was on a small utility trailer, two big freezers hooked up to a hydraulic motor on a 530 JD! Homemade setup, but worked very well. He only had one freezer belted up that day. ~~ grnspot110
