Hunting accidents

I think the folks who shot these guys should not be allowed to have any guns. They simply aren't capable of the responsibility.

I was surprised to see that the deer hunters were killed on a Sunday -- deer hunting is not allowed on Sundays in the Carolinas.

I need to get out more often -- it turns out NC and SC are among just a handful of states with restrictions on Sunday hunting -- State Sunday Hunting Ban Statutes.

The one guy was a bow hunter....... they usually don't wear orange. The guy from the previous weekend (end of article) was sitting 'in his shooting house' which I assume means he wasn't visible anyway.

I grew up in Montana where we were required to wear orange. Here in Idaho it is optional. I wear camo. Even if deer or elk can't see color (there have been some studies that dispute that BTW) the big block of 'solid' still stands out particularly when it is moving around. I figure the dipsticks that can't tell a man from a deer probably can't see me in my camo ;)

Honestly, orange or not you need to pay attention and be clear of what the heck your shooting at. This guy has to be either retarded or a murderer.

Or drunk? When I was a kid back in the 50s our neighbor's dapple gray Welsh pony was shot dead, in his paddock next to the barn, by a drunk deer hunter. City idiot who only came to the woods for deer season and probably would have missed if he'd actually been aiming. I know he got caught but can't remember what the consequences were, I was too busy being sad for my pony friend.

I believe you are talking about game management areas or the up state. We can deer hunt on Sunday in the pee dee area on Sundays.

Hunter orange/Blaze orange is a good thing to have on. Here in WI you are required a minimum of a cap/hat and vest. I can't count the number of times I've been hunting and thinking I'm all alone, when glassing with my binoculars I've picked up some orange from another hunter I would never had seen without them. Same thing happens when elk hunting in the Rockies.

The scarey part is when your glassing the area, and find someone doing the same......only using his SCOPE! That is dangerous period! You never know if he's looking, or aiming at something. Binoculars are cheap, get some and use them, and wear some orange for your own safety.
