I have a 4000 with a knock in it. I already put bearings in it before pulling the motor but it didn't seem to help much.
I haven't measured everything yet. I did get the pistons. 4.394 was the smallest measurement across. 4.386 parallel with wrist pin.
Bores are 4.401 - 4.404. Should it be bored, just new pistons, or should be ok?
I did notice that the gear to the oil pump bounces up and down a lot, like 1/2" or more. Is this normal or should something be holding it down?
I also noticed some play in the gear that goes between the crank, cam, and injection pump. The bushing looks good but there's no thrust washer. Should there be a thrust washer?
