only went from 133 to 579 for a dubl-wide moble home
and I did not have power because of two hurricanes
and the stupid lady on the phone with the power co say it must be something in my house

hummm that much more draw it would blow the breaker or start a fire

They have to pay for all those hurricane related repairs some way /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Jus kiddin.
I am with you it seems that you would see some extreme evidence of that kind of current draw. This wasn't a settle up bill for a budget plan or something was it ?

Any chance you had some damage to the meter or that it was misread? Around here the final read shows on the bill so you can at least check when your bill arrives. Again, at least here, you can get a usage test run by the utility company. I can't imagine what might be using that much juice but that would let you figure it out fairly readily.

Good luck with this and let us know what happens. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You sure it was your meter that the bill cam from and not someone else?

I know they are wrong and you know they are wrong and I think they know it too but I have to make them admit it
yea it was read and from the read date to today usage is back to about normal. They keep telling me nothing could be wrong with the meter and I tell them "BS" (it just stopped a few years back)
We have hight tension line that are within one house of mine. They all came down in the storm I think when that much power ran down across the normal lines and ground that it fried something (not in my house like they want me to think)
Anyhow now whe have Jeanne comming this way so if the winds pick up something may just hit that meter (wink wink)

Fl has a law against ripping off people due to a disaster. Make a claim, that would get their attention /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BG&E was reaging the wrong meter for more than a few months. We found out about it last October after our Aunt (was renting the farmhouse) passed away in Sept 03, We cleaned out the house and it sat for three months with nothing on but an occasional light while I would work in the Barn. When the electric usage continued to rise, I compared the meter reading on the bill with the actual reading. . . . wasn't even close. Come to find out, there were two numbers (Meter Serial Number) transposed and I was being billed for someone elses (who knows who) usage and I guess they were getting mine. The Utility people on the phone talk to you like your an idiot. . . and trying to explain that the bill is wrong fell of deaf ears. I finally arranged to be at the farm on the day they read the meter and asked him to verify the info. He realized that the number in his book didn't match the number on the meter or the number on my bill. The utility company said it was my fault because there was no House number (address) on the building. Finally got it straightened out though.
