My new HP all-in-one often will not wake up from sleep. Once had a Dell (wife's before her current one) that took to doing this. Left it on all the time. That's what we used to do with our office machines when I worked.

This new HP does not have a hard drive: solid state memory like memory card, 256 GB. All data is actually put on OneDrive cloud. Have 1 TB of that.

So, with LCD screens (using my old Dell's as 2nd one) and solid state program file holder, what is there to heat up much? Thinking there's little problem with leaving it on all the time. Only thing that could wear out would be the cooling fan, but I think it may not have much to do and won't run much, if it has one.

All kinds of stuff online for this. Have done all that is suggested. Still locks up from sleep, especially overnight. Sporatic though. Some mornings okay. Sometimes after short sleep, it locks. Turning off and back on works, and restart is fast on this thing, but you have to reload anything that was up, but this is fast, too.

Main thing creepy crawly lately is the internet from about 8 to 8. Not the machine's problem.

Can you return it? I have a Lenovo all in one with a 2 TB Solid State Hard Drive running Windows 10. It is a fantastic machine. The problem with what you have is that it's dependent on the Internet to operate.

goto settings - system = power and sleep, make ur adjustments there to start. BIOS may need to be setup as well.

would recommend to not allow the pc to sleep, get all 'important' updates only, never recommended updates, restart or power on as needed.

BIOS was updated. Bugger. Lost my PIN. Have to use MS password to login.

Updated everything else that it said, too. Also did the KB to make it wake up the computer.

With all the trouble I went through to set this thing up, I'm not returning it. Need to be on internet is MS's doing with Microsoft 365 (no Office now). Can operate using my Doc and Photo files on my flash drive if the OneDrive cloud isn't working. All program files are on the 256 GB solid state storage.

Right now, I've monitors and computer always on. Not sure which is not waking up. Think it's the monitors.

Do you have it in a docking station and the monitors hooked to the doc?

If so, can you remove the HP from the doc and see if the locking up problem occurs when it's not being used on the doc?

It's a desktop all-in-one, e.g. with the CPU enclosed behind the monitor.

Trying to see if it is the monitor or the CPU that won't wake up. Had the monitor go to sleep this morning. Would not wake up this noon time. So, have monitor on Never sleep and CPU on sleep setting.

Found all kinds of shortcut keyboard strokes that are supposed to turn the monitor/CPU back on. NONE of them would work. Only thing is to turn it off and back on. If I can just leave the monitors on, maybe the CPU will wake up, and I won't have to restart my Outlook and Notepad.

Had both on Never sleep overnight. You lose any security then, as it requires no code to just sit down and use it. Not good if we have workers come into the house.

One time now with computer going to sleep but monitors left "on", the pooter woke up. This has happened before. We'll see what happens in the morning, etc.

When the pooter goes to sleep, the monitors do, too, because they no longer get input.

Woke up this morning with just the pooter going to sleep. Monitors go off because they don't get signal. Stay awake.

Welllll, it works most of the time. Had to do a shutdown with the start/stop button and restart this morning even after it awakening from overnight earlier.

Try your new HP ALL in One with the monitor set to sleep and not the computer. In all likelihood the unit has windows 10 installed. A good security package is included in Windows 10. microsoft security in windows 1 - Google Search

Microsoft Windows S Code version is difficult sometimes especially when trying to use a browser other than EDGE.

Introducing Windows 1 in S mode – Performance that lasts

Type "System Information" into the "Type here to search block" bottom left of your screen. Then click on the highlighted System Information on the top left of the pop up window that appears. Another window will then open and will tell you what OS you have installed.
