How would you like to buy gas for $.002 a gallon?

Should the station take the loss or make people that bought gas pay up?

Something like that happened here in Phoenix about 3 weeks ago. Someone set the price at 25 cents a gallon. Strange thing was it was at a Shell station also. Very weird.

Like the saying goes finders keepers. It's not the publics fault for a gas station mistake.

Hmm.. Makes you think about the issue of selling somehting at it's advertised price... If the price advertised was really .002 then .. I'd have to say.. they just gave away some gas. If the price advertised was market value.. and then the wrong price wrung up.. I'd say thee customers need to pay correct price.

If a customer pulled into a station and say gas advertised at .002.. bought it and left.. and later the station recharged the customers credit card.. I'd say the customer has pretty good grounds for getting the charge removed for fraudulent use.. .. i.e. bait and switch... This all changes if the advertised price was correct.. etc..

have you ever watched the show, my name is earl??
i always figure what goes around comes around: none of the stations i buy gas at are company owned: so i would be taking money from an independent business person, so i would pay the price.

If it happened liked it did here in Phoenix, the roadsigns had the correct price. One or two of the pumps were incorrectly set. So I would guess the possibility exists that they might be able to recoup the money. As far as I know here, the station attendant got the "got a minute" speech and they wrote it off as a loss.

To each their own.
If I was charged the incorrect price and knew better - I would have questioned it and payed for what I received.
I don't want anything I haven't paid for.

If it was advertised wrong.. ( on the sign ).. then would that not make it the correct price?

In this case.. we don't know if it was simply a pump errir or if it really was advertised at the lower price.

i agree.. if it was advertised at 'normal' price and then the pump undercharged.. You owe it. If both the pump and sign are wrong.. then i chalk that up to 'stupid' company owned store or not...

Where I work, the other engineers and myself have a saying.. " stupid is expensive ". We are involved in quite a few projects, and invariable we will see a glaring issue, and point it out that this needs to be changed now.. while on paper.. before money is lost. As is the way of red tape and beaurocracy.. the plan gets implemented.. with the glaring errors.. then we ( get paid ) to go back and fix the design that we informed them they needed to fix in the first place.... thus... 'stupid is expensive'...
