I just got an old David brown from out of the weeds from a friend of mine who doesn't know anything about it other than it's a david brown. It has been painted at least once and has been beat hard throughout it's life. The paint or what's left of it is white sheetmetal and black chassis, but after pressure washing it the chassis has the chocholate color and then red (I'm guessing primer under that)primer. It has no decals so I'm at a loss as to what model or year it is. It is a 3 cyl. diesel david brown engine and has 3 forward and 1 reverse with a high and low range as well.On the rt. side of block close to the bell housing were some numbers:
AD3 40A (stamped)
5692 (stamped)
M023893 A (cast in the block)
F 913900 (cast in the block)
I don't know if this is the serial number or if I can tell from these numbers what model it is. I'm guessing its a 880, 885, or something similar but I don't know how to tell for sure. Any help would be great as I would like to start looking for the right paint, decals and other small needed items.
