kubota
I have a Kubota tractor I purchased for my father who unfortunately passed away before it was delivered. so it was not used much and I had my back broken by a distracted driver 18 months ago and am not coming back as I hoped I would. So it sits even more now. I have used it to split wood the most. Put a 60' driveway in at dad's house and dug some dirt at my house and dug 20 or so tree stumps from the kids yard. I have had a quick change adapter installed on the loader. It now takes Kubota and skid steer attachments; I have a set of pallet forks (forklift); a 5' bucket and a new 6' bucket never used, both Kubota brand; have two Kubota brand backhoe buckets one 16" and a 24"; have a (Never used) box blade with adjustable drop down teeth ; a log splitter with an adjustable 4-way blade that fits on the standard wedge; a super heavy duty pasture mower 6', (similar to a finish mower just heavier duty and has a rear discharge so you can cut tall grass and brush as well as a finished lawn, (used one season not even); also have a demolition hammer never mounted or used that goes on the backhoe, I have the mounting parts but not the hose connections; Have a post hole digger, I have the hoses and control valves but not the brackets or disconnects, I wanted to put it on the backhoe end;
I'm sure there are more toys I can't think of right now.. I live in the city,,, ( I will pause for your laughter:laughing:laughing,,,, yes in the city 1.4 miles from the center of downtown Dayton OH on almost one acre, You can't say anything my recent bride hasn't already said... LOL). Anyway not sure where or how to sell it or what to ask. I also have a 6' x 12' - 10,000 pound dump trailer it fits in I have used to move it around with. I have seen them priced all over the board but not around me to often. Wife says have an auction at the house (she wants to sell all my trucks too, which is fine) but have heard horror stories about them.. and the ones I have contacted have never sold one- "But I'm sure we Can",,;.
I read some of the threads when people were looking for tractors but aren't familiar with the sites they were referring to.
Any suggestions. ??

It would help to list the year, model and horsepower followed by the hours and maintenance history.

Kubota Tractors sell well here and Craigslist is how most are sold up to about 40 hp...

Also makes a difference if the tractor has been kept inside...

Depending on price you may find someone for the package but more than likely you will end up selling the trailer and implements separately...

A hammer is not something I often see with small tractor loader backhoes.

Of course all the standard precautions when selling to strangers apply... I like to do the transaction at my bank... this way it is all legit and no phony certified checks or my having lots of cash around.

What would the selling dealer offer for the package? It would at least give you an idea.

I sold my B7100, purchased in 1993, on Craigslist. I got a huge response and realized later I'd under priced it, even though I'd checked out SOLD listings on eBay beforehand. I took a certified check after calling the issuing bank and verifying its authenticity. You will get more by selling accessories and the trailer separately.

An issue when selling anything expensive on Craigslist is that as the price climbs, especially above about $15k-20k, a lot people need financing so it makes it more difficult to find cash buyers, and that problem only grows as the price goes up. Keeping the asking price for the tractor as low as possible is another reason to split off all the attachments/implements and sell them separately.

Be sure to look at the machines like yours on Tractorhouse.com. Those sellers are almost all dealers, but it can give you an idea of their asking prices. Discounts from listed prices on newer and low-hour machines listed on Tractorhouse seem to be in the 0 to 10% range, based on my recent search for a Kubota.

Early in my search I passed on a very nice tractor because the selling dealer would not move off his listed price. Later I learned enough to realize it would have been a fair price and I should have jumped on it.

So sorry to hear about you and your father. I guess my suggestion would be to see if the original selling dealer would take it in and sell it on consignment for you. Barring that, see if another relatively close dedicated tractor or equipment dealer would sell it on consignment for you.

Does a couple things for you, first it gets it out of your yard, gets it in front of buyers "in the market", and gives them a place they can look it over, and maybe test it out without coming to your house.

The price the dealer's willing to give is usually less than you can get selling it yourself. But you have to know the market, deal with buyers (and flakes and lowballers), show it, get paid, etc.

When I sold my B7100 recently I used Craigslist first. The responses were almost all from lowballers. I'd done the research and priced it well. These idiots would offer 2/3 my asking price for "cash today".

I also put an ad on a local rural area mailing list. I got a lot of interest from real people and no lowballers, and it sold to a local for my asking price. I've sold a number of vehicles using Craigslist and it seems that over the years it's gotten ever dumber. It's probably still the best option for a lot of things, but keep your expectations low.

Lot of scammers on Craig's List. I've got a Woods finish mower on there now for 900 bucks. Got this email this morning:

Hello what is your last price and condition??

I replied "$900 and good condition....new blades/belt/paint. "

Next email:

Okay no problem i just left town for a contract negotiation so am hoping you can accommodate a check payment and wait till check clears in your bank before the pick up

Typical run on sentence, includes some personal problem/reason about the deal, doesn't even want to come look at it.....yeah....scam in progress......

I replied "Sure, I can do that"

Next one will be longer, include money for the 'shipping', send me a check for 1200, and I send 300 to these mythical shippers....already see it coming.... I'm just holding out for my souveneir fake check.

Bruno, sorry to hear about your father and your issue with your back.

What I would do with it unless you really need the money is give it to your kids if they have a need for it or had a use for it.

If they don't and you don't have any other relatives to "loan" it to. If you say give them everyone gets upset ext. Then I would sell it.

Just remember that it's easier for a camel to walk threw the eye of a needle than it is a rich man to enter heaven.

But what you have in all that equipment you will never get back, so if it's low hours, under 5 years old and you know exactly what you paid for it new, I would say you will get close to 3/4 of what you paid, tractor resale is much higher than automotive resale. If it's 10 years or more old over 1/2 what you paid.
