Total deaths are about 2,500,000 /year in US
Of which
443000 attributed to smoking - CDC
98000 to medical errors - IOM
300000 to obesity - surgeon general
34000 to motor vehicle accident - census bureau
26000 to unintentional falls - CDC
33000 to unintentional poisoning - CDC
38000 to suicide - CDC
8600 from firearms use (murder) of which 323 are from rifles.
(736 from hands, feet)
So I figure we can save nearly 1/2 of those who die every year by banning smoking, obesity, doctors, poison, and high places.
Who wouldn't want to save nearly 1,000,000 people a year.
Or are statistics deceiving??
