how to remove my tractor tank.

I have a 2002 Mahindra 4500 2 wheel drive, my tank has a small leak. I have the tank cover unscrewed, but now I cannot pull it over the driving wheel. My question is do you tale off the stearing wheel, which require a stearing wheel puller, or do you unscrew the three bolts that hole the whole stearing column that sits on the stering box, and pull out the stearing column and the stering wheel all together.

Don't disturb the column, remove the steering wheel.

That is what I needed to know as to which to remove the whole steering colum or the steering wheel itself, which require a steering wheel puller. Look like I need the steering wheel puller that has the four bolts in it, and the large center streaded bolt.

Are you SURE that you'll need a steering wheel puller? Tractors are often much simpler that automobiles.

He will most likely need a puller. Tractors use a tapered spline just like cars plus they are out in the elements more. I have gotten lucky on a couple of occasions where I was able to pull up on the wheel and tap the shaft with a hammer and pop the wheel off. Do not try and remove the column, you will create more work for yourself, you will have to retime the sector shaft.

this tractor has the steering wheel with the large bolt, in the middle, and four screw holes around the large bolt. I beleive you unscrew the middle bolt, and use a steering wheel puller that comes with the four bolts to turn the center big bolt to lift up thr steering wheel. THANK Brain55 I was afraid removing the column will give me big problems.
