How to price for sale?

I am wondering what the best way to go about pricing a used tractor for sale? You don't see these units FS used all over the place.

Ours is a Jinma 284, 300hrs, FEL, blade, tiller, and harrow.

Total new prices for same items, devalue for wear and tear and possible remaining life, then take a step back and give the package a long hard look and ask yourself: IF I was looking for something like this, what would I be willing to pay? Your answer is somewhere between those last 2 numbers

One way would be to visit your dealer. They should have a handle on used values in your area. http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?ETID=1&catid=1111&Manu=JINMA has one 285 with FEL listed, but has low hours and is sans attachments.

You could also search Craigslist listings for that model to get some idea of "asking prices."

Part of the problem is there isn't a dealer around here. When I bought it a fellow was attempting to start a dealership up, and it didn't go over so he was selling them off.

$14k is absurd. Dont recall the exchange rate in 2006, but I'd be surprised if your whole rig cost that much when new. Theres an '08 with 10 hours on eBay right now for $6k, and you can likely get a brand new one for ~$8k. Chinese loaders probably go for another $1.7k new. Having owned two 200 Series Jinmas myself, I think $8k USD for what you describe is likely as far as any informed buyer will stretch. Having said that, a North American loader would be a plus.

Hi Greg: Thanks for your input...are you suggesting $8k for the tractor w/fel only, OR are you suggesting 8K including the tiller, blade and harrow??

I dont know what year yours is but as an example to help you guage from. I just bought a 2004 40hp foton 4x4 with an american FEL for $5700. It does have double the hours of your at 600 hours but is in near pristine condition other than me questioning the types of fluids that were in it.

I know its not apples to apples but just something to guage what the market will bare on your tractor. I am by no means an experienced tractor person as this is my first but when I was shopping for it I compared a bunch of them to each other and if I found one out of line pricewise I completely skipped over it. With 300 hours on yours even if it is a couple of years newer than mine it is still used. I ran across brand new 354's with loader and backhoe attachment for 15.4k. That should help you size up what you are likely to get.

Can $ is around $0.95 US right now, but typically our prices are quite a bit higher up here to start with.
