how to : motomaster alternator on 35 perkin

My 35 has an Alternator it was replace a few years ago, now this alternator does not charge any more
Some one gave me a motomaster alternator, it has a main wire that goes to the batery, a yellow wire that also goes to the batery, and a green wire, I do not know were this green wire would go,
Is it a ground?
Or is it a wire that needs to be hook up to the guage and then to the switch,

Green is probably the field wire, supplies momentary voltage on start up to excite the alt, (start it charging)

Ok found out whats what.

the Alternator is a Motomaster 3 G, It has a main power wire that goes to the starter positive wire or you could bring it to the battery wire, Starter is a shorter wire, The yello goes to the same place or what I did was instal a perssure switch on the OIl port, the one for the oil pressure gauge, why did I do that?
this wire is always live and will drain your battery, the ignition switch on the 35 does not have an auxiliary live wire, so cannot hook it up to the switch, and you need a way to stop the power from going to the ALT or you will drain the battery, with a pressure switch the power will only go to the ALT once the motor starts and their oil pressure at the switch. The green wire goes to a 500 resistance than to the amp gauge you could also install a small indicator light, then the other side of the gauge goes to positive of the battery.

hope this helps, the most difficult part of my project was to make Alternator brackets, and I wanted to install this alternator has high has I could close to the hood, in order for the alternator not to interfere with the steering linkage,

you can use a diode ( i use in4058 I think ) but most any will do, under a buck a piece, make sure the silver or white band on the diode is towards the alt. this prevents the voltage bleed back.
