I have a 55 gal poly barrel, a cheap 12 VDC Ebay pump and some reinforced plastic tubing. I have made a spray rig with these components which works quite well for hand spraying with a wand. The 55 gallon is way too big. I'm going to get a used 30 gallon poly barrel. I also have some left over angle iron from several Titan attachment shipments.

I wish to fabricate a 3 point carrier for the 30 gal. barrel for a Cat 1 that allows me to drive the tractor and operate the spray wand while spraying insecticide, herbicide or liquid fertilizer. Now, I have to use my utility trailer which makes maneuvering difficult.

The 30 gallon will weigh 260 lbs when full of liquid. I would consider a seat for a co-pilot to handle spraying from the spraying rig.

I don't have Solid Works software or any parasolids capability SO if you have plans (drawings) in SW, I cannot Open them only view them (the SW viewer is available free).

Any ideas, plans, thoughts, comments are welcome.

I just fabled up a 3 PT for my MF GC1715, from parts from scrap pile... Looks like a fork lift facing back wards and a box sitting on top of it..... Quick hitch took 3/4 water pipe for hook and 1 inch water pipe for lower mounts so use those diameters for reference dimensions... Or use something like this for frame work and set sprayer tank on platform ... Or slide a pallet on arms and mount tank to pallet...

Don't need CAD, just need to just cut and weld....

Maybe some inspiration...

You could always put a saddle on tank (if its round) for spray wand jockey....

Dale, You win the prize for the best design idea. Now, I've got to source the pins and other stuff and get busy. My only comment? I don't care for your color...maybe gray or black...we'll see...I tend to change my mind daily about such things. Thank you for your reply.

If you want to get creative, build a "Universal 3-PT Mount", and then the custom portion for the spray tank. I built a York Rake a couple years ago with a fixed 3-PT mount. The mount was the time consuming part to fab. Then I decided to build a heavy duty dethatcher and went with a design that would allow the mount to accept other accessories. Pretty much just copied what I did for the York rake, but mounted a standard hitch receiver on the bottom. There are tabs to bolt on stabilizer bars to keep whatever you mount fixed. The guide wheels in the last picture are off the York rake.

Here's a few pictures of the 3-PT mount...

I like the way you MIT fellas think...I spent some of my childhood in Cambridge (circa 1942) when dad was attending Harvard and MIT building RADAR for the US Navy. Then, as an adult, I worked for a company located in Cambridge...miss Legal Seafood and Jimmy's Harborside Inn.

I already have a sturdy 3 pt 2 inch receiver attachment so, I'm half way there. So, I'll fab up the sprayer tank carrier with a removable seat for the co-pilot, maybe a stereo outfit for the co-pilot (daughter).

Wish I knew how to weld...

Thanks BBT

BTW, that's some fab shop shown in your photo.

...I was at Draper Labs (MIT) for a few years while working for Raytheon. Worked on the guidance system for the Navy's Trident missile.

As a US Navy officer, Dad spent time at the MIT Rad Lab with a team that developed USN Aircraft RADAR systems. When sailing on my Uncle's yacht (USS Newport News, CA-148), I operated and maintained MK56 Gunfire Control RADAR systems.

Small world.

A little late getting back to the party with pics....

This was just a quick fab to mate with quick hitch.... But receiver method mentioned above would be very valid also...

But if you have 3PT receiver hitch and can't weld.... Dont think I would put co-pilot on it though..

Search results for: 'carrier'
