How much to charge to rent out my BX24

Has anyone ever rented out their BX24?? I had a request yesterday and I'm all for it. I am just not sure how much to charge. Anyone have any thoughts?? I believe it will be needed for about three days. I figured I would just charge by the day. The backhoe will be used to dig about five holes for some irrigation pivots that are being installed.

What ever you charge, it won't be enough to pay for the repairs that will be needed to the tractor that will be inflected by someone that does not have anything invested in it.

I doubt I'd let anyone rent/operate my BX25 that I wasn't watching but that's just me. If I was going to rent it then I'd charge by the hours they used it instead of by the day since it has an hour meter on it. hey could run it 15 hours a day for 3 days or more. Hours count.
Call a rental center near you and see how much they charge. If yours is closer and/or more convenient then no less than the rental center if your going to rent it.

I agree with this 100%..

I would however rent my machine WITH OPERATOR

Around here they get about 175 for the weekend, and the agreement states that it is for 16 hours. But now the rental places around here also require you to take a hydraulic operators course (from them) for 100.00. Like others said, I would not trust my machine in the hands of someone that has no stake in it. There are only 3 people that drive mine, me, myself and I.

The guy that wants to use it is right next door and I see him every day. He has done things for me in the past and the least I do is let him use this. Also he has run this type of equipment his whole life.

It's a good way to create hard feelings with a neighbor/friend.
Even if he is 100% competent to run the machine this will be the time something breaks.

Then why are you renting it? sounds like perhaps you should allow him to borrow it....Something I have done for my neighbor of 10 yrs, AFTER I knew he could operate it....

BTW with renting, comes liability insurance and thats a whole other issue!!!

I'd never rent out my tractor...without me as part of the rental.

But, if you think you have to...make sure the renter buys some kind of insurance for any repairs...

I agree with others. DONT rent it out.

If he is that good of a neighbor/friend, set up a time/weekend convienent for the both of you, and give him a hand with his project. I personally wouldn't let anyone borrow/use my tracror outside of my presence.

Things happen and stuff breaks. If something happens to your $20k machine, are you going to blame him??
