How much Super UDT do you go through?

Folks -

I've got a new-to-me B2410. It's got 400 hours on it, so I shouldn't need to change the transmission /hydraulic fluid for awhile, but I wanted to buy some super UDT to have on hand for topping up the fluid. I'm wondering ballpark how much I might expect to need over, say, 100 hours of tractor time. Also, does the stuff have any shelf life that I need to worry about?

It's a bit pricey, but I might as well get whatever I'm going to need for a couple years...unless it goes bad. Thanks -

You won't need any unless you have a leak. A gallon should last forever, or untill the next oil change.

Well I just did the 50hr service on my B2320 this past weekend and went ahead and changed the hydro fluid (even though it's not required till 400hr). The manual states that it holds 4 gallons so I bought 4 gallons. After I drained the fluid and changed the two filters I added 3 gallons and one quart and checked the level. It was high. Started it, moved everything around and checked again, still high. Ended up draining out about a quart. Oh well...into the furnace it goes.

Back to the first part...Kubota came out with a new SUDT...SUDT2 I think it is called now. It is a synthetic oil (same price as the old) and I just wanted to put that in there so I went ahead and changed the hydro fluid and both filters even though all that is recommended for the 50 hour service is just one of the hydro filters.

I've got a 2710 and never added a drop. I wouldn't buy any until you do a change, unless you buy a 5gal container just to have it ahead of time.

I wouldn't worry about the shelf life of new oil in a container but if the tractor lived in a climate that could cause condensation in the transmission or it shows possible water contamination from age you might consider changing it now.

But on the topic of Kubota premium udt I was wondering what you people pay for it in your area. The price that I pay is $17.50 per four liters, how does that compare with the rest of the Kubota world?

I think I paid $90 for a 5gal container last time, which was about 2 years ago. That's pretty close to what you paid, not sure if you've already converted $US.

FYI, SUDT2 is about 10% cheaper.
