Have you used the JD "Build your own" tool on the John Deere website? You should be able to determine the suggested MSRP for the 360 flail there.

Got it, $4,638. Had to pick a bigger tractor. Strange that JD doesn't make a flail mower for the 3x20 series.

Guess I will look at buying a Caroni.

That's the "suggested MSRP"... not necessarily the final sale price. Give your local guys a call. They might have other ideas.

The 360 -- is that a 5' mower? I'd think that the 3000 series would power that just fine as they (flail mower) generally take less hp than a comparable sized rotary mower.

Not sure I'm seeing $2,709 worth of differance between the JD 370 and Caroni TM1900 mowers. Anyone have any experance with the cut of these two mowers?

360 Flail Mower 4' 10" cut (54 knives) $4,638 - 15% = $3,942
Tractor HP Required 30-75
Weight 794 lb.

370 Flail Mower 5' 11" cut (66 knives) $5,292 - 15% = $4,498
Tractor HP Required 30-75
Weight 904 lb.

Caroni TM1900 6'cut (56 knives) $1,789
Tractor HP Required 30-75
Weight 650 lb.

JD 3320

I have the five foot caroni with hydraulic shift and heavy flails on my farm. It gets used several times a week along fence lines and small fields, around the vegetable field etc. I also have a very old 6 foot Mott Hammer Knife that gets used several times a week on larger areas. Love them both. The Caroni is a very well made piece of equipment and when the Mott can no longer be repaired, I'll likely replace it with a Caroni. Of course, if I could find a 10ft flail within my budget....I prefer the flail over the bushhog, except in heavy brush with sapplings.

I also had a Ford 80 inch 918 that I resurected. Big and heavy, but not any better than the Caroni, and the drive was so heavy on it that it sucked the life out of my 50hp tractor.
