Thinking of picking up some front weight so that I don't have to add the loader when aerating, spraying or running the (future) 4' rotary cutter. Too many trees to watch out for....

Anyway- what are y'all running for front weight? Dealer says (2) 60# weights will fit on the "bumper". There is a bracket available for $100 to fit (4). I seem to remember the manual said I can fit 3 weights. Can anyone confirm?

The aerator is in the neighborhood of 900# when loaded, but doesn't stick out far. The sprayer is 55 gallons (600# loaded). The cutter is 450#.

Thanks!

Mine's not a boomer but I'll relate what I have experienced. My JD is probably similar to the small boomers, maybe a tad bigger? I run 5 40 pound weights with my five foot cutter on the back. I did it a couple of times with no weight but it was pretty challenging to steer. The weight is a huge help and it's so much nicer mowing without the loader. You can always try the two and add more it that's not enough. You'll know when you have enough by the steering.

For my case-IH DX29 you can get 2 60# weights or 2 85# weights on the front. If you wanted more weight than 60#, try 2 85#. Ask your dealer. He may not be aware of the larger weights.

Have you tried running with no loader to see if you need the weight upfront?

My question is can the weights be installed on the front regardless of installation of FEL? I would hate to have to remove the weights to put on the loader and vice versa. I will probably be in the same situation also.

I think that you will have interference between weights and FEL.

Well I went ahead and ordered 2 60# weights. Man they aren't cheap - $95 per...

I use 4, 42# weights on mine and have both front tires loaded (that added about 70#). The front end still feels a little lite on my hills with the 42" Bush Hog.
