I live on a hill without a lot of flat ground so I'm stopped on a hill frequently. I turn sideways when I can or turn the front wheels towards the hill but that's not always possible.
I'm talking about short term parking, maybe 5 or 10 minutes. I could turn the tractor off and leave it in gear but if I'm just getting off to slide a compressor motor into the bucket or something, that seems like lots of wear and tear on the starter. I could put out a wheel chock but I'd have to get off the tractor to do that.
Use the loader to lift the front end up a wee bit along with the parking brake?
So far, the parking brake has held well but I don't really like just relying on it and hoping for the best.
I haven't had it that long and am still getting used to it. It's a 5155 so fairly heavy with loaded tires.
Any thoughts? Pics show terrain I'm working with.

A very valid concern. (y) It seems most tractors have brakes that are wimpy when new get worse as time goes on. It is one of the features I relish the brakes on my Toolcat. I can be working on getting firewood on extreme hills and always feel safe. 🍿

No pictures but I just set the bucket down with the cutting edge vertically in contact with the ground and it don't go anywhere. My buggy has a standard box so it gets parked in gear always and the wife's Burb, the parking pawl in the Allison is quite substantial so it's not going anywhere either.

Always put the gannon down when leaving the tractor on a hill. It acts like an anchor.

Thanks for the replies.
I admit I had to look up what a Toolcat and gannon are.

I live in hilly terrain as well. I totally trust the parking brake. I adjusted the brakes about 900 hours ago when I first picked up the used tractor. I never use brakes, as it's a hydro, but use parking brake almost every time I'm off the tractor. I do turn wheels uphill as a habit though...
