How many quarts of oil do my Mahindra 4500 need to fill back up.

I also make the mistake and removed the wrong filter, the long filter, which I believe is the Hydraulic oil filter. Can I just refill the new one and tighten it back on, or did I loose some hydraulic oil and need to add more hydraulic oil? Where is the hydraulic oil stick to check the hydraulic oil level. I think I have found it but not sure, I have the 2002 Mahindra 4500 two wheel drive, I found a square bolt below/behind the driver sit on the back right, is that the hydraulic stick. What kind of hydraulic oil should I buy type and #? Also do I add the tractor oil in the same hole where the oil stick is?

DJP, you need to get an owners manual!!! All that stuff is there...I've got a 6000 4WD..engines are different..on the '02 "00" series tractors, the hyd oil and the differential oil are two separate resevoirs....the 6000 holds about 3 gallons of hyd. fluid and about 8 or 9 gallons of 80w-90 gear oil...again...don't make a huge mistake, get the owners man. and the service manual from your Mahindra dealer...money well spent. Thanks for the info. I do have an owner's Manual, for some time I did not know which one I needed, I bought the owner's manual and realized I need the Service manual. I need the manual that shows where/how/and information to replace/repair parts. You mention hyd oil and later you mention hyd fluid. I believe a tractor do not have both. I found my hyd oil stick, it do not have any type of measurements on it, it a 5-6 inch rod, no #, no lines, only a 1/4 cut in at the bottom of the rod, is this the oil measurement guide? and how do you read it?

the owners manual should show you where to put the fluids, which type of fluid and how much.

The service manual will tell you that as well, plus how to take things apart, etc.

I find my owners manual gives me all I need for normal maintenance questions. Haven't had need of the service manual yet.
