How many hours can a tractor go?

I'm looking at buying a used 4400 HST, 2-yrs old with 1200-hrs. My question is how many hours are these tractors good for in total if well maitained?

Also, are there any known problems or service bulletins issued for the 4400 during the past 2-yrs?

I cannot speak to the 4400 longevity, but I've seen a JD FEL with 25K hours that was in excellent condition. The key to your question - "properly maintained". I've also seen equipment with less than 2000 hours that was ready for the boneyard.

Key point here is "...well-maintained..." If so, then the 4400 may be good for at least 4,000-5,000 hours before any serious engine work is required. If abused and not well-maintained, then as the previous poster mentioned, this 4400 may be ready for the graveyard. Again, I'd caution you about this rental yard tractor. Rental yards are not known for maintaining their tractors well. They rent, prep up for the next user, then rent again, and after a period of time they sell out to replace with a new unit....just like car rental companies.

No major ones to my knowledge. 4400's are generally good tractors and will provide many years of useful service if you in turn treat it well.
