How loud is your engine?

I have a 2005 TT55 with the Iveco engine. It runs great but the clatter from the engine is so loud I cant hear the exhaust. Infact I have to wear ear plugs when it is at idle, and you have to yell to hear anyone nearby! I had the valves adjusted at the dealer at the required interval, but was told the noise was normal. I was told this while standing beside an older John Deere diesel that was so quiet you could not tell it was a diesel. Also, it has been like this since new, just slightly louder now.

So my question is, is this common on New Hollands or Iveco engines? or do I need to have it checked again... by a different dealer.

I am not familiar with yours, but different engines do produce different sounds.

I have a '75 Honda TL250 a trials 4stroke motorcycle, it has 3 mufflers in the single cylinder exhaust.
The piston is the loudest noise it makes.

Now if you ever were around or drove a truck with a 671 Detroit diesel 2 stroke, you would opt to have your ears removed.

Its not just the exhaust, much has to do with how thick the block casting is too.

The greatest innovation in weed eater is the 4 stroke motors, both noise and vibration.

No kidding. I think they were designed to warn everything on the road ahead to GET OUT OF THE WAY!

The Shibaura 3 cyl in my TC35D is pretty loud, especially running it over 2200 rpm most of the time at work. I wear earplugs so I can better enjoy my tinnitus...coincidently NOT wearing earplugs for so many years is the reason I have it. On the other hand, I ran a Kubota SVL75 recently that was almost unbelievably quiet for the amount of power it has.

Different makes, different noises! Normally the costs are different but we fight with some tractors everyday because of the noise. There are differences! listening to the wisdom of some that they are all the same, Not! I don't believe it and the injector noise makes not only a difference in noise but also longeveity. There are other noises that come with tractors as well but to listen to a quiet engine says a lot on the overall quality. Did you know that having plastic for hoods is a sound deadener? Drops about 3 decibels off, think of how much loader it would be under steel!

I use to work on pushboats(tugboats) with the detroit 471 and 671 on the generators, when working on these things hearing protection is a must. I swear my tractor is just as loud as those two strokes... Now when the main engines, detroit 16 cyl 2 stroke, revved it was music to my ears as long as I wasnt in the engine room!

My hood is all steel, thick steel at that. Maybe some sound absorbing material under the hood would help. I have only heard one other tractor with this same series of engine and although it might be hopefull wishing, I do not remember it being as loud as mine...

My 4 cyl 2120 Shibaura engine makes quite a racket just firing, even at low rpm. My least favorite feature. It's not exhaust or rocker rattle, and the motor runs just great. But very loud!

Ditto for my 1910. Last year I went over to the farm across the road to remove some drifts with the FEL. The farmer went in and got his hearing protectors.

I know that the perceived sound level of a tractor is very subjective but my TC29D doesn't seem to be all that loud. If I am only using it for a short time or if I am using low power settings (like using the backhoe) I don't use hearing protection but for other uses I will use hearing protection. At an idle it is very quiet.

The newer tractors like your TC29D are much quieter than those old Ford ones. My engine makes such a racket you can't hear the exhaust note. It has always been like that. It has almost 1300 hours and still runs strong though.
