How Long is Long Enough?

I need a general opinion on How Long One should wait for parts.

Especially Bigger items that aren't stocked at a Dealership.

I have been waiting on a Hydraulic Control Valve Assembly and was told today (after I was told it would have been here No later than yesterday) That it will take at least another ten days!

I wasn't sure where you were going with this? I thought maybe this was a topic for a less 'family' oriented site. Anyway, I would think that a dealership should have good, reliable suppliers (and more than one) for generic parts - especially for something like hydraulic control valves. It's not a Kubota specific item. Sometimes these dealers can really tick you off - like, forgetting to even order an item for you. You may be able to find what you are looking for at a place like Tractor Supply or Northern Hydraulic - may be cheaper, also. Just some thoughts - it also depends on the relationship you have (or would like to have) with your dealer. It's ultimately a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

I suggest that you get the part number and call Kubota yourself to determine if the part is truly out of stock or the dealer is just stalling. If he has another tractor on his lot that is the same, suggest that he take it off of that tractor and put it on yours. You purchased the tractor to use it, not have it sit at the dealership waiting an unreasonable amount of time for what should be a readily available part. Also tell the dealer that you want the original warranty extended by the amount of time that it has been out of service. You are entitled to this under Federal Laws. This is one of those lesser known facts that only comes out when a repair needs to be done at the end of the warranty. That is why they will usually give in on these type of claims. They know that the vehicle has down time from the past. It is now time to get pushy with the dealer. Remember ... no more Mr. Nice Guy.....

I have already talked to Kubota twice on this matter as well as being quite candid yesterday about how I felt.

The BX 2200 has been sitting there for a month today and They are telling me it will be an additional ten days to just get the part in hand.

This is very frustrating to think it will take a month or more to just get a part.

Obviously the Dealer does not or has not taken any interest in getting this thing repaired as I have had to initiate everything so far. As I told the Owner yesterday " This will have an enormous effect on My ever considering them for anything else."

And Yes this is a Kubota "Specific" part.

I think I would call around to OTHER dealers to see if maybe they may have ur part and if so GO and get it from them and take the part to UR dealer.. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sounds like the dealer is either forgetting to order the part or is just one of those that believes in poor customer service. I just took delivery of a boat...one of the hatches for the battery was not right....the dealer took a new part of another boat and swapped out for the defective part...that's customer service....my 'bota dealer here in Maine does the same thing...his commect to me is he can wait, the customer shouldn't have to.....

SEEMS to me that should be a very standard part to be in stock.. or readily avaliable!

I don't think The Dealer forgot to order.......They aren't getting a dime out of this one, which in My view is the reason They aren't pushing to get this thing repaired.

Kubota is supposed to supply the part and the Dealer will split the labor with me or so the Regional Service Rep told me.

I know the Dealer is blaming Kubota as He told me the other day about having to wait 30 days for a front spindle for another tractor, Now whether or not this is the case, I do not know for a fact.

I do know However in My opinion this is way too long to wait on parts!

Here is an update just for Informational purposes.

Today after being ordered Since September 22nd the valve assembly is in the Dealers hand( After I called the Parts Manager in the Regional Office yesterday).
