How long does Crossbow or Roundup last?

Anyone know how long Crossbow or Roundup will last? I have some in my garage, unused at this point.

I can't say how long, but I do know I've mixed the Round-Up concentrate with water and kept it over a year and it still worked just as good as the day it fresh.

I know roundup if sealed nice and tight will still be good in the spring/next season. I have saved quite a bit of leftovers a few different times and had the same good results come next spings usage.

Are you talking the concentrate or the pre-mix?

I called the number on the RoundUp concentrate label (Product Information or Assistance) and asked them... the reply was "5 to 7 years" (and my guess is that it will work longer then that but not as well).

Noticed your comment on your pto. Did they tell you it was designed that way? Your tractor uses a manual shift lever for the pto, correct? I have a B model and jammed the pto shaft and it created about the same issue for the front pto but was able to get it disconnected, and since I do not use it was not an issue. kt

They both will last a really long time. Longer if they are kept from changes in tempurature. Round up can freeze, but its not good for it to freeze and thaw multiple times.

If it is kept for a longer period of time, try to keep the temps stable.

This is off topic from the RoundUp question, you can PM or email for more details... Actually, I'll add the reason to my signature.

...but as for your question, for the L2800-hst, the pto is turned on and off by a cable. Best guess is that it's not good to leave the tractor outside in the weather. Last thing I heard is that you have to oil the cable (which I did but I guess not enough).

This thread reminded me of a little job I've been intending to do. I have a 24 oz. squirt bottle that came with the pre-mix, ready-to-use, or whatever you call it and I refill it periodically. So today I used up what I mixed early this Spring from the quart of concentrated Round-Up I've had a couple of years. Then I mixed another batch in the 24 oz. bottle. We'll see what happens, but I expect it to do the job just fine. I used a tiny bit shy of 1.5 oz. of the concentrate in the 24 oz bottle.

I've mixed concentrate that has been on the shelf for over 4 years and it still worked very well.

Bird, If you are into "testing" RoundUp... your 1.5oz in 24oz is the same as 8oz in a gallon OR about 6.25% solution. I can tell you that even a 2% solution or 0.5oz in 24oz will work for most things... and will save you money. On the last page for the original RoundUp label - 2% is the highest it recommends.
