I'm planning on buying a better pump with more GPM's for my backhoe as I think the one I got doesn't seem to be giving me enough force to break the ground very good.

The Tractor supply near me has one of these pumps in stock at their store. I was wondering if this pump would be suitable for my backhoe?

And if so, how is one of these hooked up. What does the port with the red cap hook too?

Thanks

A two stage pump is not a good idea for a BH.

Even though a two stage will give you increased volume, the pressure is only about 650 psi. If the BH calls on the pump for more power, the pump shifts down to high pressure at about 2600 psi, and 2 to 3 GPM's.

GPM's represent speed of operation.

Pressure dictates the force.

Your tractor probably has enough hydraulics for the BH. Install a hyd gage and check the relief valve. If your tractor has about 6 hyd GPM's, that would be at around 2500 psi.

Just make sure your BH in preforming within specs.

The port where the red cap .....is the suction hose connection to tank....

Your BH project will run that pump but will slow down when pressure rises (like JJ said)....so I don't think speed is really an issue......your issue is to get it working......And I don't think you have any specs on your rig yet.....(Still in the R&D stage)

Heck, if'n it don't work you'll allready have a new pump to build a logsplitter with...

Thanks JJ. Here's the link to the pump I bought. I wasn't thinking to do research before I bought it. So I don't know how many gpms it is or how much pressure it puts out.

I'm gonna buy another new pump later this time knowing how much pressure and gpms it puts out.

It works for now on the backhoe but will use it later on the loader project.

When I go to town, I'll get a pressure guage and check it.

Edit: From looking at the numbers again. (2401 1300427) I'm assuming this pump only puts out 1300 of pressure. I could be wrong as I'm not sure exactly what those numbers mean. lol

I can really notice the difference from my other pump. The other pump gave more force.
