I have about 2 acre field and a bag of seed. I thought about sprigging it but already have the seed so probably go that route.

Would you broadcast by hand or use a grain drill? seems like a drill might be a mis match for this little job.

thoughts? thanks.

I have spread Bermuda grass seed many times...If I were you I would wait until about May..you are in So Carolina and I am in Georgia so the same temps about...the soil has to be warm...60 deg or more...For 2 Ac. I would buy several bags of dry play sand at Home depot or Lowes and use a broadcast spreader....mix the seed in with the sand and fill the spreader and watch the coverage you get so you don't waste seed by overlapping too much...The Bermuda seed is so small that is why you need the sand..You have to keep it watered for the first 2 weeks or so...just don't let a crust form on the top of the soil for the first 2 weeks ...then when it sprouts , about 1 inch a week of water will be enough...hope for rain.

I typically plant fescue, and wait for the first dry spell, and watch as bermuda takes over the entire yard.

Good luck with it, defintely have to keep it watered after it sprouts. I have the best luck plugging it..I get the best PLUGs from the sides of my Garden. Of course I didn't want any of it---there???

Good seed to soil contact and as mentioned above warm temps.

If you have 3pt tiller that would be best, disk would work too.
Drag or drag harrow to cover it up.
Most important, cultipacker or roller to get good seed soil contact.

Takes a couple of weeks to germinate, but if its got water, fertilizer and heat it will take off.

Easy to get to deep, worry about water more than the depth. If you can get some fertilizer in the ground prier to putting out the seed it will help big time.

Sprigs are much easier on that large of area, you may want to check on that and use the seed in an area you can keep well moistened. Coastal really starts going "crazy" for me when outside temps hit near 80*

I like spriggs ... I always have better luck with them rather than seeds. Some folks think its hard to sprigg in fact it can be easy. I disk the area, go and buy quality square bales of bermuda hay break them up into the manure spreader and spread them out and disc them in ... pray for rain!!!
