How do you raise the dump bed without power?

this probably isn't an approved method but I had a problem after I changed the fuel filter and couldn't get the air out of the system. I thought I needed to access the fuel pump from under bed (I was wrong, you access it from under passenger seat on a b series).
Anyway, while holding down the bed raise switch, turn the ignition over. The motor turning over will provide some power to the pump which will raise the bed if it's empty. You may have to do it in increments so you don't stress the starter. hope this helps.

Is it possible to disconnect where the hydraulic ram joins on to the bed. You may be able to undo this and then lift the bed up by hand?
Or, disconnect the pipe from the cylinder and use a jack or something to slowly ease the bed up.

just be careful disconnecting hydraulic lines if you have boom arm raised or are not parked on a level surface. What series do you have? I can look in my b series service manual and see what the procedure is if we have similar machines.

What symptoms are you seeing? I don't have the book in front of me but I think the steering and dump are on the same hydraulic circuit. If you have a pump problem then you would lose both steering and dump. If only the bed will not dump I would look first at the switch.
I will try to remember to look tonight if you can reach the pins on the dump cylinders with the bed down. I don't believe you can but the hinge pins would be accessible.

my dealer told me the hydraulic cylinders are sloted at the ends so they can be removed in just such a situation.
The hydraulic cylinders attach to the dump bed using a pin with snap rings on each side. Looks like you could remove the outer snap ring then drive the pin in.
The pin where the cylinders attach to the frame are in plain site. Remove one bolt and slide the pin out. These appear to be much easier to remove however this would not allow the bed to be lifted unless you disconnected the hydraulic lines that are attached at this end.
The dump bed is slotted where the cylinders attach. Looks like this may prevent the pins from being pinched in the down position allowing easy removal.
