I've used KBB, Edmunds, Consumer Reports, and other online sources to see how much my cars are worth - curious if there is anything similar for tractors?

Nothing I've ever seen...other then dealer asking prices on www.tractorhouse.com and www.machinefinder.com.

Then, of course, there's TBN feedback and such for pricing.

Of course, a fair price is what a buyer is willing to pay. Worrying about if you paid too much after buying a tractor (or anything else, for that matter) is about as useless an endeavor as one can do. It's not like you can go back to the buyer after you've paid your money.

So...if you see a private party ad and you like the machine, negotiate a price you can both live with then move on with your life. And definitely ignore any comments by Monday morning quarterbacks!!! All they're going to do is rain on your parade.

Thanks for quick response - to clarify my reason for asking, I'm trying to determine whether I would break even if I sold my 1 year old tractor (see http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-buying-pricing/173163-3030hsdcc-loader-25-900-us.html) so I could put money I'm currently putting into loan payments (0%) into a home remodel project.

payoff is about $23k (put 0 down, didn't finance the blower). tractor has 75 hours.

Love the tractor, but with a third child on the way, my priorities are currently focused on getting our house done before we add another member to the family :)

Understand. Life is filled with changes. You'll have to find the "right" buyer, of course. 90% of the guys just go buy new, get the zero financing, etc. So, the buyer looking at your tractor is looking for a deal. He may try to beat you down below what really is fair. You'll have to be fair too, though. You'll take a hit selling so soon, but it can be done. Some buyers indeed look for year old machines, just not that many. Rule of thumb is this. You'll have to likely eat as much as 15% of your original price to move it. I hope not, but that is the advice I've gotten from top notch tractor dealerships I trust.

Remember when you gaze at those dealer prices on TractorHouse. The dealer can hand hold customers, you really can't. He is also going to take 5-10% off that fancy asking price.

A guy has gotta do what a guy has gotta do. I pray it all works out for you.

Just remember that with mfgs offering 0% interest on new tractors it means that if anyone buys yours and needs to finance the payments with what ever interest rate they get must be lower than a new tractor by enough to justify buying used with less warranty.

Yeah...I'm afraid Granite Tractor is going to take a pretty good hit on selling his tractor...my guess is in the neighborhood of $3000-$5000.

The Tractor Blue Book will get you started.

Amazon.com: The Official Tractor Blue Book 2011 (9781599693552): Mike Hall: Books

Some tractor dealers bad mouth this source--claim it only gives national averages and doesn't take into account local variables. Maybe, maybe not. I restore vintage tractors and use the Blue Book to get in the ballpark before I begin serious bargaining.

just ask... what do you have.

Blue books are kinda worthless, most are just a multiple of list price. Tractor House, etc are often wish lists. We could NEVER get the kinda money things are listed for on that website.

@ wholesale, knock about 30% off what you paid new. For retail knock off about 22%. This is all largly becaues of 0/60 financing. Those numbers will change very little over the course of the next few years.
