I want to sale my 2001 Kubota M 6800, cab, 4 whl drive, loader, remote hydraulics, 440 hours, excellent condition. No,gimmicks. I just want to upgrade to a different machine, but the trade-in value is not encouraging. Any ideas as to a proper asking price other than wholesale?

the replacement for the m6800 is the m7040. these things are sweet. they now have a console like the m105s on the right hip of the operator. as far as selling a tractor, take these factors into play. does it have warranty, what is the replacement cost of a new one? a tractor will generally depreciate 20-25 dollars per hour for trade in purposes. another way to figure value is to say if the unit has 440 hrs on it, take that number and say times it by 50-65 per hour giving a ball park to miles. 440hr x 50mph avg =22,000 miles. new finance rates are the reason used equipment pricing is down. most common folk don't have money to pay cash, so they finance used equip at 7.5-10.5%. it's generally cheaper to buy new ecspecially on late model equipment

The M6800 is just a bit above the typical machine bought for homeowner/landowner use - and it is on the small side for full-time farm operations. Kubotas under 50 hp with low hours often change hands for approximately 90% of new price. But as size increases, the depreciation rate inches up too. If your M6800 is still shiny (stored inside?) it should bring 85% of new. A dealer would ask that for it (the warrantee exposure on that tractor is very low). But dealers need to make a buck so might only offer you 70%.
As always, cheerful refund if info is bogus. DickB

You'd do best trading it.

As stated, you are above in power requirements and size in so much as 85% of CUT prospective buyers are looking for and below what an ag., operator like myself would want.

You might consider a farm publication like Farmers Advance or a speciality rag and put it in their classified section. I doubt whether anyone here would be interested.

I just traded my 5030 Grand L cab for an M9HDCC3. I got a lot of bites in the TBYNet classifieds but no takers. I traded for about 3K off my purchase price with 750 hours and 2.5 years of farm work on it.

There are a few posters here with tractors in the excess of 60PTO but they are a distinct minority. Matter of fact, I believe there are 8 of them including myself. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What loader model do you have and what type of tires do you have on the tractor? What bucket do you have? Has it been stored inside? Does it have the shuttle shift?

From what I can gather, dealer's generally make a minimum of 10% above their cost for a tractor. You might see what one or more local dealers might give you for your machine as is or as a trade in and add 8% to that figure.
