How do I add the 3rd function to my TC40 and 16LA?

What parts do I need to add a 3rd function to my machine? I see there is a 3rd function hose kit for the 16LA (New Holland 18LA Section 005 THIRD FUNCTION REMOTE HOSE KIT) but surely there has to be more than that, right? I can't find any easy answers on what else would be needed though. I'm assuming I need another valve? I have the joystick control on my tractor and "think" the 3rd function control is built into it but I'm not certain.

If you guys can provide some guidance on parts required, I would really appreciate it.

WR Long sells several type of kits and their web page has some good information on the subject. The hose kit you reference uses an existing SCR valve on the back of the tractor if you have one, not the joystick. The joystick only controls the 2 SCRs for the loader in the factory configuration. There are aftermarket kits that can redirect this for a 3rd function on the loader or to control equipment on the 3 pt.

I see this an older post, I found it in a search. Did you get a 3rd function added? If you did, what did you do? I am in the process of trying to add one to a farmall 40. The kit you linked is powered off a rear remote, which I do not have. A rear remote factory kit is over 700.00. I want to run a hydraulic motor off this 3rd function. I'm subscribed to your shop build thread, its very interesting.

I haven't yet but, when I do I'm going to use the WR Long kit. Everything Attachments carries them, they use the power beyond and give a true 3rd function instead of a bypass. I remember them being $800ish.

Thanks, the WRL 3rd function kit states it's only for momentary use. I don't think this will work with hydraulic motor? I don't know about the bradco diverter valve.

I don't know the answer to that, I'd guess it has something to do with the electric valve. I was going to use one with a hydraulic PHD but, since I've bought the mini-ex, I've now decided to get a PHD for it instead. It's already plumbed for auxiliary hydraulics and has higher flow than the tractor. The mini-ex will give me better visibility and control of the PHD as well. I'd suggest giving WR Long a call and see what they have to say about your intended use. EA might be able to suggest an alternative if that won't work.

I believe they said it would be fine for limited use for a phd and not recommended for use to power let's say a snow blower or rotary mower. But the minute or two to did a whole was fine. I cannot remember the thread that was in when EA said it would be fine.
