How come JD 4500/4600/4700\'s no snowblower

How come you can't get a snowblower for the JD 4500/4600 and 4700,but JD offers it for the 4100 through 4400 tractors? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This came up at work some time back. We speculated it was either a lack of mid-PTO or a width issue. I can't remember if we reached a conclusion /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I asked the same question when I owned a JD 4600. I was never given much of an answer except that it wasn't available. I would guess it has to do with the gearbox on the snowblower. Deere may not believe it is heavy enough to handle the horsepower of the 45-4700 (and ten series) tractors. A mid pto option is available for these tractors so that can't be the problem. Certainly John Deere would like to sell as many snow blowers as possible so it has to be a durability issue they are concerned with. My JD dealer has sold a couple of blowers made by Loftness on these tractors. They look like they are very built very well (heavy) but they use the long shaft that runs under the tractor from the rear pto. I just don't know how reliable they are. THey aren't cheap either. I believe the 6' unit sells for neary $8000.

I have one for mine. It's not a john deere. I can't remember the name right off. It's a 3 point mount that is pto driven. It's 5' wide and does a heck of a job. I got it at Farm & Fleet on closeout for $1500, regularly they were $3100.

It works great for me. I leave the loader on and push snow with it. Never had a problem with it.

I seen that Woods makes a snowblower,I like the idea of leaving the loader on,a snowblower on the back and a loader on the front I would be ready to do some serious snow removal.
