Hours gauge and fuel gauge not working

As the title suggests, my hour gauge and fuel gauge are not working. I bought the tractor thinking that it was working and now found out that it doesn't, and I don't know how long it hasn't worked for.

I would think that it would be beneficial for the hour meter to start working again, at least for maintenance purposes, not to mention I would like to know how many hours are getting put on it. I would also like the fuel gauge to work, because obviously I don't want to run out of fuel.

Any tips or advice on where to start would be very appreciated.

I would suggest you start by getting the tech manual. Take a look at selectmanuals.com. Post the wiring diagram and we should be able to help you.

If two things are not working... find what is common to both.

Then 'work back' from there, halving the fault as you go along. Ie: 'I've got power here, but not here.' Then go to the middle of that 'line' and check. Keep halving the checks until you isolate the fault.
