I bought a pressure washer at home depot. It says cold water only.

I wondered 2 things

Of course what would happen if I ran HOT water from my house through it

secondly does anyone make a pressure washer that will stand up to hot water. I do not need it to make the hot water my wood fired boiler does that just fine!

Hot water thru a pressure washer not rated for it will ruin your pump over time.
Some washers have a valve thats temp sensitive and will blow out if you run hot water thru it ( mine does).

You can run "warm" water through the pump, but be careful, especially if your pump is not a bypass type.A non bypass type, that is dead headed, could result in warm water going above the "danger" point and cause damage to the pump. I wouldnt recommend doing this on a regular basis.\

The proper thing for hot water is a hot water washer, complete with boiler. But these arent cheap.

Yep, the water cools the pump so hot water can cause the pump to overheat.

They do make hot water pressure washers; you will have premature pump failure if you runn hot water. Check out northern tool.

I have a hot pressure washer made by Landa. I have to turn off boiler and run cold water thru the pump until the wand is cool to the touch. Turning off the machine before cool down can damage the pump. Mine will bypass water if wand not used. I make it a habit of pulling the trigger occassionally while moving around vehicle I'm cleaning. My pressure washer is gas. I have to hold trigger open to pull the rope or pressure in hose will stop me from pulling it over. I will send my washer back to dealer every year for a tuneup,[ engine oil, sparkplug, any adjustments, repairs on pump or furnace, new nozzle tips, any quick couplings] depending on how much I use it,it can be high maintence. plowking

I've got a JENNY Hotwater Pressure washer. It pressurizes the water then runs it through the fired coil. I run it after shutting down the boiler until the water runs cold just to keep from damaging the coils.
If they say no hot water they mean it. Any pump with these working pressures is going to have heat issues and cold water is surely needed to cool the pump.

I would like to clarify,

I do not want a pressure washer that makes its own hot water, I have a huge wood boiler and can make all the hot water I want for free.

I want a pressure washer that I can run hot water from my house.

Right, i think we all understood. As far as i know, and others have posted, theres no pressure washer that can take hot water. I, too would be interested, but i dont think they exist.

My understanding is that with a Hot water washer, the pressurized water is fed through the heating coil, so the hot water never has a chance to damage the pump. You could build something using your boiler to heat a heat exchanger, but the exchanger would have to be rated to the pressure of your pump.
