Ok, I have a related question. How can someone tell me what they consider a "reasonably accurate" estimation on HP and torque given my 1/4 mile time slip knowing my weight at the line was right at 8200 pounds? Pictured is the time slip. Is it possible for a person to calculate HP and torque assuming that I had minimal tire spin?

There is two formulas. One uses your speed, another uses the MPH.

The one using your speed generally gives you a little higher number because ANY wheel spin at all hurts the ET much more than the MPH. So I typically like to average them to get you a ballpark.

The formulas are as follows

HP= weight x (speed/234)^3 .....................^3 means cubed

using this formula, that is ~ 678HP at the engine

the other is

HP= weight divided by (ET/5.825)^3

Using this formula = ~561 HP

Average those two and you are looking at roughly 620 engine HP

Well, cool. I wonder where the old bearded guy came up with my hp and torque figure after my 2nd run (that ticket is from the 2nd run - marked with a '2' at the top). Any idea how he figured torque? Anyway, looking at my engine and truck you cannot see any modifications and I was not really blowing out much black smoke at all (not really turned up - trying to conserve parts some). I was just surprised when people were telling me my approx hp and torque when I never have put this truck on a dyno.

Thanks for the info. The truck's nothing special at all really, but I was recognized as the "heaviest" 'car' to run that day. I trailered my dad's '70 Camaro to the track and he broke, so I ran the tow vehicle.
