I was just wondering. I got a PM from a new member that doesn't have any posts at all here. They were asking for my address. If this is an isolated incident fine, but if I'm not the only one, maybe someone should be notified.

I had one, but it wasn't about horses. The one that I received was wanting to send me a dvd about fuel conditioner. And yes they wanted my address.

Unfortunately, 'banning' is a relatively useless response. Anyone can go to yahoo or other online sources for a new email address at will. And then they are back. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I guess what I would like to know is how did they know you were a horse owner without going into your profile. That sure would take a lot of time to go through each persons profile??

my guess would be that the didnt - just hand it out to a load of people in the hope that it applies to someone
like the phishing type scams - get emails saying your back account is suspended, 'hey wait i dont have an account with them......'
it only takes one person to reply.......

I haven't but it sounds like you have become an early target of the latest innovation by scumsucking weasle spamsters.

Basically they find a site, register, and use software to 'walk through' the site and email as many people as possible with their latest fraud. Spamming via PMs is more effective than normal spam because you tend to believe a PM is legit.

Site owners (that would be you, Mohammed) can only block by using the 'what does this image represent' gizmo test like you use when joining a Yahoo site. This means an automatic system can't walk through the site.

All spammers should be fed to wild dogs. Then killed. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I got one from somebody with 0 posts basically telling me to leave this site alone for people south of the border since I'am north of the border. I didn't consider it none to polite either. I'll take into consideration where it was coming from and if I can contribute in a positive way I will continue posting regardless of this lone halfwit.
